CCS Theater students honored
Recently several of our CCS Theater students were recognized for honors designed to expand their learning in the theater world beyond their classroom walls.
Justus “Case” Witcher from Central Cabarrus High School was one of twelve Charlotte-area theater students selected to participate in The Broadway Experience; an international musical theatre program designed to create and inspire “triple threat” performers. Students undergo an intensely disciplined study of dance, voice, and acting with current Broadway professionals and incredible master teachers. From the young beginner to the emerging professional artist, The Broadway Experience offers an unparalleled training opportunity focused on process, building technique, and creating a strong foundation for the future. Case is the second student from the right in the front row of the attached picture.
Clai McNutt from Central Cabarrus High School was selected to serve as a Blumenthal Junior Ambassador; a seventy-hour program where local students attend workshops to learn about the business of theater. Junior Ambassadors also usher Blumenthal Performing Arts Center performances throughout their experience.
Nick Valles and Donna Green from Central Cabarrus High School, along with Kathryn Ryan, Junia Byrum, and Hali Clevenger from Jay M. Robison High School were selected to participate in The Blumenthal Experience. Much like its Broadway predecessor, The Blumenthal Experience allows students to study with professional theater performers and teachers to build their performing arts skill sets. Nick and Donna were also named “runners up” for The Broadway Experience.
Case, Clai, Nick, and Donna are students of Mrs. Shellie Kingaby-Hyser, Theatre Director at CCHS. Kathryn, Junia, and Hali are students of Ms. Annie Boger, Theatre Director at JMRHS. Congratulations to our outstanding Cabarrus County Thespians!
