Superintendent's Message - August 24, 2022

Welcome to the 2022-23 School Year!Picture of Dr. Kopicki

We’re excited about the upcoming year and can’t wait to welcome you back to class on August 29th. I encourage you to visit our Back-to-School website for important information about enrollment, academic calendars, school nutrition, and a variety of other useful information.

While the past two years have been challenging, this year offers a chance for renewed energy and increased opportunities for us to connect with the communities we serve. It is our mission to offer our students a world-class education and become a national model for K-12 instruction. Together, we begin this school year focused on our RISE to the top.

Every student. Every day. Whatever it takes. That’s how we’ll get there.

This summer, I’ve challenged our administration, teachers and staff to do whatever it takes to champion every student, every day – to instill in our district a culture of positivityhope and excellence in everything we do for students. More than 4,000 CCS employees are all-in, energized, and ready for your children to return to campus.

We invite two-way communication between our schools and families. We will strive to create a safe and secure learning environment where strong partnerships and respectful relationships can flourish.  It is only by working together that we can build the kind of momentum that will launch Cabarrus County Schools into a new era of possibilities for students, parents, and the entire community. We encourage you to follow us on social media as we tell our story - your children’s story - to the world.

While we are excited to begin anew, we do so with health and safety at the forefront. We will continue to follow the COVID guidelines by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services,

Our school nurses serve as an important part of our CCS team. We will rely on their clinical judgment and clinical expertise to determine the best course of action for those students who test positive or are symptomatic for COVID at school. I invite you to visit our district COVID-19 page for current guidelines related to quarantines and masking.

I want to thank you for entrusting Cabarrus County Schools with your child’s education. We invite you to RISE with us in 22-23 as we work to set a standard for others to follow.

Stay Well,

John
