Personnel Announcement
Superintendent Dr. John Kopicki has announced the following personnel appointments, which were approved by the Board of Education on Monday, December 9.
Megan Smith, principal at Coltrane-Webb STEM Elementary School, has been named principal at Central Cabarrus High School, replacing Dustin Shoe, who was named Chief of Staff for Cabarrus County Schools in November. She will begin her new role at Central Cabarrus on Jan. 2, 2025.
Megan has served Cabarrus County Schools since 2008 as an English teacher, assistant principal, and principal.
Megan holds a bachelor’s degree from Elon University and a master’s degree from UNC Charlotte.
Chrissy Rotan, assistant principal at Concord High School, has been named principal of the Cabarrus Virtual Academy, a position that was created by the resignation of Scott Nolt, who served as program coordinator, and the transfer of Ashley Short to the principalship at the Cabarrus Health Sciences Institute. Chrissy will begin her new role at Cabarrus Virtual Academy on Jan. 2, 2025.
Chrissy began her education career in 1993 as a teacher at Concord High School. She began her current role as Concord High’s assistant principal in 2006.
Chrissy holds a bachelor’s degree from North Carolina State University and two master’s degrees from Wingate University.
