Personnel announcement
Superintendent Dr. John Kopicki has announced the following personnel appointments, which were approved by our Board of Education on Monday, August 5th.
Laura Dean, Dean of Students at Hough High School (Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS)), has been named assistant principal at Mount Pleasant Middle School replacing Logan Barrier, who has resigned. Laura began her new role at Mount Pleasant Middle on August 6th.
Laura previously served as a teacher for 11 years at Northwest Cabarrus High School. She has also taught in Catawba County Schools, CMS, and Rochester, N.Y.
Laura holds a bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York Brockport and a master’s degree from Queens University in Charlotte. She earned her teacher certification at the State University of New York Buffalo and Queens University in Ontario, Canada.
Brandon Wilson, program manager for technology services in CMS, has been named assistant principal at Concord Middle School, replacing Renae White, who has transferred to the same role at Jay M. Robinson High School. Brandon began his role at Concord Middle on August 7th.
Brandon previously taught at Jay M. Robinson High, Harold E. Winkler Middle, and served as the Instructional Technology Facilitator at Ardrey Kell High School (CMS).
Brandon holds a bachelor’s degree from Western Carolina University and a master’s degree and school administrators licensure from the University of North Carolina Charlotte.
Meghan Walker, Exceptional Children department chair and principal intern at Hickory Ridge High School, has been named assistant principal at Pitts School Road Elementary School replacing Emily Angles, who has resigned. Meghan began her role at Pitts School Road Elementary on August 6th.
Meghan previously served as an exceptional children's teacher at Hickory Ridge Middle School.
Meghan earned her bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, and certificate in Educational Leadership from the University of North Carolina Charlotte.
Erica Gipson, school administrator in CMS, has been named assistant principal at West Cabarrus High School replacing Jay Iadarola, who has resigned. She will begin her new role at West Cabarrus on August 26th.
Erica was a social studies teacher in CMS, a teacher at Providence Day School, and a teacher at Robert Morris University prior to beginning her administrative role in 2015.
Erica holds a bachelor’s degree from Howard University, a master’s degree from the University of New Haven, and a master’s degree in school leadership from Queen’s University in Charlotte.
