HEWMS' Nichols named to TCAB cohort
Jennifer Nichols, an English Language Arts teacher at Harold Winkler Middle School, has been selected as one of only 24 teachers from across the United States to join the Teachers Collaborating Across Borders (TCAB) 2024-2025 Cohort. This unique program brings together educators from the U.S. and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region for international dialogue and virtual exchange. Throughout the fall of 2024, Jennifer and her fellow participants will engage in both synchronous and asynchronous discussions on education and culture, and in the spring of 2025, they will conduct a virtual exchange project between their students. This cross-cultural collaboration aims to foster global understanding and prepare students for an interconnected world.
Jennifer's leadership and expertise will also be on full display at this year’s UNC World View Global Education Symposium, “Opening Classrooms to the World,” where she has been invited to present a session for K-12 educators and administrators. Her session, titled *“Resources Galore! Digital, Hands-on, Cross-Curricular and More!”* promises to offer valuable insights and resources for teachers looking to implement global learning strategies in their classrooms.
The symposium, scheduled for October 10, 2024, will focus on building global competencies in educators and supporting schools in their efforts to prepare students for a globalized world. Jennifer's presentation will provide a treasure trove of resources for educators to enrich their curricula with cross-curricular, hands-on, and digital approaches to global education.
Jennifer continues to be a leader in the field of education, inspiring both her students and her colleagues to look beyond the classroom and embrace a global perspective. With her involvement in the TCAB cohort and her contributions to the UNC World View Symposium, she is helping shape the future of global education, one student at a time.
