NCHS' Bui is AP of the Year
Northwest Cabarrus High School Assistant Principal Edward Bui has been named the 2024-25 Cabarrus County Schools Assistant Principal of the Year. The announcement was made at last Friday’s home football game at Northwest Cabarrus by CCS Superintendent Dr. John Kopicki, CCS Deputy Superintendent John LeGrand, CCS Chief Human Resources Officer Dr. Michael Williams, CCS Assistant Superintendent of High Schools Gordon Palmer, and NCHS Principal Chad Thomas.
“The most rewarding part of being the assistant principal at Northwest Cabarrus is being a small part of such a great community,” said Bui, who began his role as assistant principal at NCHS in 2022. “I appreciate the relationships that I've built with our students, staff, parents, and community members. My experience in Cabarrus County has been great. Cabarrus County is special because it is a family. We care passionately about our students as human beings but we also challenge each student to reach their fullest potential.”
Bui was joined for the announcement by his family and friends as well as the Northwest Cabarrus High School student section, who assisted in the announcement’s fanfare.
“I ensure that Northwest Cabarrus is a welcoming and supportive environment for every student is by getting to know as many students as possible,” Bui said. “My goal is to know every single student in our building.”
Bui began his teaching career in 2009 as an English Language Learners teacher at New Hampshire’s Concord High School. He moved to South Carolina in 2011, serving as a Chinese, social studies, and ESL teacher, as well as testing coordinator and Services for Students with Disabilities coordinator in Lexington County School District One. During his tenure there, he also served as football coach and athletic director of soccer.
Bui earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maine and a master’s degree from the University of South Carolina.
Congratulations, Edward!
