Personnel announcement
Superintendent Dr. John Kopicki has announced the following personnel appointment, which was approved by the Board of Education on Monday, February 12.
Ashley Short, principal at Cabarrus Virtual Academy, has been named principal at the Performance Learning Center, as well, replacing Dr. James Williams, who has retired. Ashley will provide leadership to both schools, which are on the same campus. She will begin her role at the Performance Learning Center on March 11.
Ashley began her teaching career at Concord Middle School as a math teacher in 2006. She then taught math and science at Mount Pleasant Middle School from 2008-12 before transitioning to the Instructional Technology Facilitator role at Central Cabarrus for seven years. In 2019, Ashley began her administrative career as an assistant principal at C.C. Griffin Middle School before accepting her current position at Cabarrus Virtual Academy in 2022.
Ashley earned her bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina Charlotte, a master's degree from East Carolina University and a certificate in School Leadership and Administration from Appalachian State University.
