In order to help fulfill the educational goals and objectives of the school district, the board strives to provide instructional materials which will enrich and support the curriculum and enhance student learning while improving literacy and technological skills.
Instructional materials also should be representative of the rich diversity of our nation and appropriate for the maturity levels and abilities of the students. Instructional materials constitute all materials, whether print, non-print, digital or any combination thereof, used in the instructional program. For purposes of this policy, instructional materials will be divided into three categories: core instructional materials, supplemental materials, and media collection materials.
While we strive to ensure that students have access to a diversity of titles and resources through our library programs, we understand that not every book is for every reader. Therefore, if a parent/guardian wishes to restrict access to a book for their student, they may contact the School Media Coordinator or the district librarian, Tina Platek at tina.platek@cabarrus.k12.nc.us. If a parent/guardian wishes to object to the inclusion of a title in their student's school library collection, please see the Cabarrus County Schools Parents Bill of Rights page to initiate a formal objection.
We encourage parents/guardians to view avaialble books in their school library using the onlin catalog, Destiny Discover.
