Good afternoon, Cabarrus County Schools families,
We hope everyone has had a safe day, and hope you have a great (sunny) weekend. Welcome to this week's edition of The Friday Five, five reminders on Friday afternoon to get your upcoming week off to a great start.

Parent Information: Inclement Weather Procedures for Cabarrus County Schools.
#1 Inclement weather communications reminders
With today's cancellation, it's a good time to remind everyone about how CCS makes decisions when bad weather changes the school schedule.

When bad weather is expected or happening, the superintendent will get information from the National Weather Service, district staff, and county emergency services about conditions that would impact our school day. This helps decide if school should be canceled, delayed, or dismissed early due to severe weather.

While every effort will be made to make inclement weather decisions as far in advance as possible, sometimes weather and rapidly deteriorating conditions may require an early morning decision to be made.

If school is canceled, delayed, or dismissed early, the information will be posted on the district website at www.cabarrus.k12.nc.us. We’ll also notify parents first through ParentSquare messages. At the same time, we’ll update our district’s social media pages on Facebook, Instagram, and X. You can follow us on social media @cabcoschools. Information will also be passed on to our local news channels.

As a reminder, when school is closed or dismissed early due to weather, all afterschool activities are also cancelled for the day.

If driving conditions are dangerous, a team of CCS transportation staff will check roads across the county to decide if it’s safe for buses, student drivers, and staff to travel. Our county has a mix of urban, suburban, and rural roads, so we base our decisions on how the conditions are across the whole county.

Make-up days depend on extra hours built into the school calendar. Once those extra hours are used up, make-up days or remote learning will be needed. Saturdays may also be used to make up for missed school..

Remember, the information posted on CCS sites is the official word from the district. We encourage parents to have backup plans for childcare in case of school closings or delays. Our KIDS:PLUS program will not be open when school is closed due to bad weather.
