Adolescents and teens who often use drugs and alcohol may benefit from attending Cabarrus County School’s Recovery High School Program. In an education setting, these students can complete their coursework while also receiving the support they need to sustain their recovery.

What is a Recovery High School Program?

A recovery high school is a secondary school designed specifically for students in recovery from substance use disorder (SUD). Although every school operates differently depending on available community resources and state standards, each recovery high school shares the following goals:

1. To educate and support students in recovery.
2. Meet state requirements for awarding a secondary school diploma.
3. Intent that all students enrolled be in recovery and working a program of recovery as determined by the student, parent/guardian, and school.

CCS Recovery High School Program provides a safe setting for students seeking to lead a life free of substance use and committed to recovery. 

This program includes structured group sessions using the DBT in Schools STEPS-A Program and curricula from the University of Southern California’s Project Towards No Drugs (PTND). Students can access individual sessions designed to teach students the necessary tools and prevention skills to maintain their recovery while continuing their education.
