Welcome to this week's edition of The Friday Five, five reminders on Friday afternoon to get your upcoming week off to a great start.

#1 Notes & Reminders

  1. First quarter winding down: The first quarter for traditional schools will end three weeks from today on October 11th. Parents should have received progress reports earlier this month. Please make sure to monitor your child's progress and encourage a strong finish to the first quarter. You may view all progress report and report card dates for 2024-25 HERE.
  2. Updated tutor list: The tutor list has been updated for the 2024-25 school year and is attached to this post.
  3. Please report transportation concerns to our dedicated email: transportation@cabarrus.k12.nc.us
  4. The application period for Free & Reduced meals remains open. Anyone with an application last year that hasn’t yet applied for this year will expire on 9/24. Read more and see how to apply at: https://www.parentsquare.com/feeds/34394683
  5. Events reminder: Students attending extra-curricular events (i.e. games, dances, afterschool clubs, etc.) should have a ride home available at the conclusion of the event. Failure to do so may result in a student being ineligible to attend future extra-curricular activities.

PROGRAM CHOICE Applications for the 2025-26 school year will be open from Thursday, October 17, 2024 to Sunday, December 15, 2024.
#4 Program Choice Application Window for 2025-26
Program Choice applications for the 24-25 school year will be open from Thursday, October 17, 2024 to Sunday, December 15, 2024. Parent notification of placement will occur in the online family dashboard the week of February 3, 2025.

Parents will have until Monday, February 17, 2025 to make a decision and accept a seat in their online dashboard. Any seats not accepted within this window will be forfeited to waitlisted students. 

Timeline for Application Process:
  • Thursday, October 17th- Program Choice Fair at The Cabarrus Arena and Events Center Gold Hall along with Cabarrus County Schools "Futures Fair"
  • Thursday, October 17th- Applications open in Scribbles
  • October 17th- December 6th- Program Open Houses held at each Program Choice Magnet school
  • Sunday, December 15th- Applications close at midnight
  • Monday, February 3rd (by the end of business day) - Parent notification of placement will occur in the online family dashboard

#5 2024 CCS Futures Fair is Oct. 17th at Cabarrus Arena
Cabarrus County Schools will host its 3rd annual Futures Fair at the Cabarrus Arena and Event Center on Thursday, October 17th from 6:00-8:00 P.M. In conjunction with the annual Program Choice Fair for specialized programming, this year’s event will again include military and career recruiters, as well as more than 100 college representatives under one roof.
