Family and Consumer Sciences Education (FCS) is a series of pathways that provide students with the knowledge for how to deal with major societal issues, such as work-and-family, healthcare, child and elder care, family and community violence and crime, global economics and politics, and technology usage. Family and Consumer Sciences Education is a catalyst for bringing these issues into action-oriented, skill-building educational programs.
Family and Consumer Sciences Education courses help students develop personal effectiveness and industry-relevant technical skills. Students who complete a four-course concentration in one of these pathways are prepared to enter the workforce or post-secondary education in the areas of Human Development; Personal and Family Finance; Housing and Interior Design; Food Science, Nutrition, and Wellness; Textiles and Apparel; and Consumer Services.
Career & Technical Education courses offered in Cabarrus County Schools are part of the pathways mentioned below.
